Review

Amiel, the voice behind Josh Abrahams' hit 'Addicted To Bass' going back a few years (who incidentally produced this album) has finally made an album on her own, this time with catchy guitar-pop tunes more aimed at a generic market than Abrahams' club hit. The album opens with proof this is a radio friendly sound, 'Lovesong' with the line "I've just gone and made another stupid lovesong" being tattooed into the brains of every commercial radio station listener (and even JJJ was guilty of it for a while!). 'Tonight' is far more generic, but 'Clair De Lune' is an interesting one, with powerful guitars straight from the depths of heavy metal, yet still melodic and poppy. 'All of Me' is introduced with some creative sampling, although it is quickly lost in a fairly straightforward pop ballad, quite the contrast to 'Obsession (I Love You)'. I only wish I could put into words the look on my face when I read this title, this is no "I'm A Slave 4 U", this is Obsession. You couldn't be much blunter than that. With a chorus exclaiming "I love you and everything you do" is enough make every guy tremble. By the time 'Theme For A One Night Stand' ticks over, apart from sparking curiosity as to just what the real Amiel is like just from her song titles, every aspect of pop has been explored and no nook, nor cranny has been missed! This slow disco/house tune beacons out to DJ's with its Abba like feel and generic house beat. The album comes full circle with 'Final Piece' reuniting the old acoustic guitar in the synthetic mix trick, but this is no perfect circle, a tail end is left with 'Nothing Can Break Me', a tune verging on "chill out" music, taking the album out in style. Festival. 2005.Debut Full Length CD from this Aussie Singer/ Songwriter. Includes her Hit Singles "Lovesong" and "Obsession (I Love You)".
