Review
Carrying on the tradition of Australian music that thrived in the late 70's/early 80's, Bird Blobs self-titled 2005 album delivers ten fractured shards that go straight for your throat when you press play. Drawing inspiration from the Scientists, Captain Beefheart and The Beasts of Bourbon, it's angst ridden lyrics tell violent stories over a mutated take on early post-punk and sixties outsider blues. Recorded with US engineer Casey Rice, and later mixed by Simon Grounds (Rocket Science, Venom P. Stinger), the outcome is a hellish fistfight that doesn't compromise muscle for polish. Sweet Nothing.
