Review

As one of the most versatile guitarists to emerge from the late 60s British scene, Chris Spedding has worn many hats throughout his career...all of them well. Along with always maintaining his own voice via his solo exploits, Spedding has appeared on recordings that span everyone from Jack Bruce to Elton John to Memphis Slim to Brian Eno. His brand new solo venture Click Clack is a rollicking, rootsy, blues-based album that will unquestionably satisfy those longing for great guitar playing with an emphasis on high quality songwriting. His latest solo album, Click Clack, is another impressive mélange of rock, blues, country, jazz and gospel. Spedding not only composed most of the tracks himself, he also recorded the vocal, guitar, keyboard, violin, bass and harmonica parts himself, as well as composing half of the material. His guests were the exceptional vocalist Sarah Brown, drummer Tal Bergmann, tenor saxophone player Iain Dixon, bassist Danny Thompson and mandolin player Freddy Koella. His friend and frequent companion Bryan Ferry (Roxy Music) also followed Spedding's invitation, contributing the impressive harmonica solo on 'Hear Your Daddy'.Although Chris Spedding Has Never Landed the Big Worldwide Hit, the British Guitarist/Vocalist Enjoys an Excellent Reputation Among Musicians and Fans Alike.
