On their full-length debut CD Not on the Menu, Crowns on 45 serve up equal helpings of scorching, full-throttle rock, frantic yet dance-worthy pop and pepper the whole affair with dual vocals and surprising bursts of melody. Songs about being lectured on the sins of homosexuality by right-wing Christians, loved ones in the throes of addiction, the robot clone inducing qualities of computer technology, favorite sins, late night driving hallucinations, bitter breakups and a particularly blistering track about the sexual assaults in Central Park in the spring of 2000 comprise the wide array of songs on this disc. Revealing their influences while still constructing a sound all their own, Crowns on 45 set out to prove that the best things are often not on the menu.
