Crystal Waters's run of hit singles captures an eclectic but essentially pop side of the house-music experience. Whether hymning a "Gypsy Woman" in the infernally catchy debut hit ("La da dee, la da da") that allowed this diva to quit her secretarial job, investigating life "In de Ghetto," or simply celebrating "100% Pure Love," her laidback persona marks each song: these aren't just her producers' triumphs.
