Powderfinger guitarist Darren Middleton has been working towards releasing his debut album with his band Drag for the last five years. As Australia's best known band take a year's hiatus, Drag brings its debut album, The Way Out into the light. The culmination of many songs that needed to find a home outside the Powderfinger format, Drag is a project lovingly put together by Darren Middleton on guitar and vocals, co-founder Mark McElligott on drums, Sean Hartman on bass and Matt Murphy on keys. Recorded earlier this year in Byron Bay, The Way Out was produced by David Nicholas (Pulp, Elton John). This album is a far cry from Darren Middleton's previous work, while still maintaining the dynamic guitar riffs he is known for. Their Debut Album, 'the Way Out' is an Eclectic Mix of Songs Drawing on Influences as Widespread as the Beatles, the Doves, Elton John and Tom Waits. Featuring the Single "You and I", a Rocking Harking Back to the Heady Days of New Order. It's a Good Indiction of Where "The Way Out" Can Take You which is Nowhere Near Where You Expected. Sonically, the Album is a Far Cry from Darren Middleton's Work with Powderfinger, While Still Maintaining the Dynamic Guitar Riffs He is Known For.
