Review

Ed Johnson's debut solo recording reflects a leftime of musical influences and displays his dazzling talents as songwriter, vocalist, guitarist, arranger, and producer. Elements of jazz, Brazilian, contemporary acoustic, and rhythm and blues are seamlessly woven together in his own compositions and in his interpretation of works by others. He has produced songs that are characterized by their melodic and harmonic beauty, and by their perceptive lyrics that repeatedly enthrall listeners. Some of the excellent musicians who lend their talents to this album include guitarist and co-producer Rick Vandivier, Santana bassist Benny Reitveld, Compass Records artist John R. Burr on piano, and vocalists Lissy Abraham, Nate Pruitt, Kim Scanlon, Linda Waterfall, and Chris Webster.
