Review

Poke You In The Eye serves up the Fish's potent blend of fun-laden original songs, unusual cover songs, and rousing traditional instrumentals played with mind blowing dexterity. The eclectic presentation upholds longtime FFS traditions, with several original songs ("General Dollar General", "The Food Chain", "Poke You In The Eye", "My Big Cat", "Coffee Oh!", a reprise version of "Loch Ness Monster", "Chain Mail"), and touches upon themes familiar to Fish fans, such as coffee, cats and songs of the sea. Traditional songs include a mellow version of "Waltzing Matilda" and "King Henry" - a ghost story presented as a rock ballad., and five instrumental dance medleys from the British Isles and Canada. Reaching deep into their grab bag of unusual covers, the FFS have included such notable songs as The Beatles "Rain", Gary P. Nunn's "London Homesick Blues", Loudon Wainwright III's "Unrequited to the Nth Degree" and The Ventures' "Five O'Clock World" to round out! the presentation.
