Already a star in her homeland, Puerto Rican merengue star Gisselle turns her eye toward the international market on Voy A Enamorarte, her seventh album and follow-up to last year's greatest-hits collection. Gisselle's rich, sensual voice slinks nicely around the sweltering rhythms of "Que No Diera," "No Me Enamoro," and "Dímelo Ya." Just as effective are torchy ballads such as "Prefiero Decir Adiós" and "Quién Te Hace el Amor," a deliciously dramatic tale of heartbreak that practically begs for radio play. Producer Kike Santander (Gloria Estefan, Thalia, Jennifer Lopez) has nicely balanced the mix of genres here and wrapped everything in a slick, infectious package. He has even fashioned ballad and merengue versions of the album's first single, "Júrame," that should satisfy both old and new Gisselle fans. --Joey Guerra
