Review
Hub--aka Hub Moore--is a tall, thin, fashionably-dressed man who sings with such quiet passion and reassurance that when he tells you "everything will be alright" (as he does on "I Believe You"), it feels as comforting as if he had given you a big hug. By the same token, when he sings of heartbreak--as he does on "Two People"--the effect is absolutely devastating. Hub's band includes Ween mainstays Mickey Melchiondo (aka Dean Ween) and Claude Coleman Jr., but they sound nothing like their normal selves here; Mickey contributes a few languid, too-lazy-to-be-psychedelic solos, and the result is beautiful. Hub's cover of the Replacements' "Swingin' Party" gives the venerable song a new appreciation, and his own "Sleep Like an Angel" is among the most touching lullabies ever recorded. --Randy Silver
