Review
Current group formed by the former QUATERNA REQUIEM guitar-player Junior JONES, INDEX sounds very much like that group or APOCALYPSE. The Brazilian musicians play Progressive rock in the classic style, in which electric and acoustic guitars always come to support the keyboards (Hammond organ and Moog). Uplifting and melodic Progressive rock, worth hearing. Their second album called "Liber Secundus" (2001) shows that they have reached new heights. Some PINK FLOYD-inspired ambiences are always present and wonderfully blend with the typical South-American symphonic style. All this also reminds of CAMEL and YES... Mainly based on the instrumental developments, this major works is also important because it includes excellent vocals (In Portuguese) on four of the seven tracks. The third opus is back with the all-instrumental formula, and simply called "Identidade" (2005). Once again published as a joint-venture between the Musea and Rock Symphony labels, this beautiful piece of art displays eight tracks both delicate and filled with symphonism, highlighting a final suite clocking at 13 minutes. No doubt that INDEX is now one of the leaders of the so-called South-American symphonic school !
