Review

Jessica Williams is a bit underrated, but she is one of the top jazz pianists today; a powerful virtuoso whose control of the keyboard, wit, solid sense of swing, and the influence of Thelonious Monk have combined to make her a particularly notable player.

Here she pays tribute to Duke Ellington. "I Let a Song Go..." is an album about Ellington, about Williams playing Ellington's music - but most of all, its an album about the "feeling" of Ellington, and how it feels to be absorbed in the intricate web of his beautiful compositions.
