This trio recording covers time-honored standards to Roberts' own compositions, this trio is the result of an improviser daring to be himself. Drawing on influences ranging from Bill Evans and Dave Brubeck, to Oscar Peterson, Dr. Billy Taylor and Herbie Hancock, the album underscores Roberts' enthusiasm for bebop's more lyrical and melodic pianists.
