Review

John Temmerman's latest recording, The Power of Two, shows expansion in many ways. He is joined by his regulars: stalwarts Rusty Jones, drums and Steven Hashimoto, bass along with young lion Neal Alger on guitar. Together they explore a wide musical range including mainstream jazz, fusion, funk and swing. John's direct, organized, yet expressive solos are a delight, as are those of his counterparts. Another highlight is the interaction between the extremely tight rhythm section. There are 12 cuts on this 67-minute CD. Six are Temmerman's compositions; the remainder include the standards, All Blues and Nice and Easy, along with, among others, lesser known tunes first recorded by the Crusaders, Tom Scott and the LA Express, and one, Costa Del Sol, from his son's Playstation game, Final Fantasy VII.

Demo copies for this release have already generated international airplay.
