Review

"Industry Rule" is a genre-bending soul jazz-funk record, with hints of drum&bass and country music, a la pedal steel guitar. It was made by songwriter Jonah Smith and his band -- some of the best underground musicians in New York, with the assistance of the Ultimate World Mind Shaping Corp.'s Matt Stein, a protege of Bill Laswell. The record, although unknown to most of the world is gaining fast popularity in some of the finer lounges in NYC and when the band pops up for live performances, they are always highly anticipated and jam-packed.
