Review

Debut album from Joseph Leonard the scintillating drummer from Sydney band Founder & the driving bass player in The Woods Themselves. Joseph recorded & played most of the instruments on 'Soft on the Small Moon', though other members of the Heavy community occasionally raising their musical hands to testify. The album flows through slow, smoky, soulful sad songs to pretty, skittery tunes, always swinging along, twinkling with melody & late night mystery. There are also noirish jazzy instrumentals, short poetics & vocal arrangements that dance around the songs thoughtfully. The result is a sophisticated blend of eclecticism & restraint.
