Review

"On his exciting debut Village Strut, [Larry Antonino] hams it up with a handful of great artists who add more than familiar names to the stickers on the shrink-wrap. Clearly, Antonino is interested in trying new techniques that work with his catchy melodies and ensemble action." - JAZZIZ

Larry Antonino is one of the most innovative bass guitarists on the music scene today. His distinctively fresh sound has been described as exciting and just plain funky. Village Strut features original songs Antonino has written or co-written, accompanied by extraordinary musicians including Rob Mullins, Freddie Ravel, Steve Oliver, and Ron Pedley from smooth jazz group Kombo. The former Air Supply bass player's contribution to the Los Angeles music scene includes live performances and recordings with renowned artists such as Ronnie Laws, The Jazz Crusaders, Jeff Beck, Bobby Caldwell, and Al Jarreau. He has composed for a variety of talented artists ranging in style from Air Supply to Ronnie Laws and Jeff Tyzik. Antonino was featured in the 1996 Tom Hanks film That Thing You Do, which also earned him a Gold Record for his contribution to the soundtrack.
