Review
MASQUE is a current Swedish band, that deserves our total attention. Equally influenced by YES and the best neo Progressive bands, "Flesh That Understands" (1992) is undoubtedly one of the best releases in this musical vein. The musicians could have been fully satisfied with this artistic achievement, but that doesn't seem to exist in their vocabulary ! "Ten Ways" (1994) is an unique piece of work, impossible to compare to anything else, and completely different from the first opus. It combines the best of sophisticated pop-rock, ethnic music (African percussions, Mariachi trumpet...), and the then-growing Scandinavian School (ANGLAGARD, ANEKDOTEN, LANDBERK ). Still not convinced ?!? Let's say that singer and trumpet player Jerker RELLMARK offers a really original voice, full of sensibility and personality. But the music was personal enough, isn't it ? But, wait a minute You're still reading this last sentence, instead of running to your favourite record shop ?! !?
