Review

After two years of composing and recording, Pianist and Singer/Songwriter Michael Mangia is set to release his second full-length album, The Invisible Wall. Akin to a diverse range of artists such as Tori Amos, Ben Folds, Spiritualized, Travis and Rufus Wainwright. The story of a painter, The Invisible Wall takes listeners through his canvas filled with the lives of addicted porn stars and their admirers, children's sci-fi fantasy books, an Italian boy's father's death, the façade filled world of Hollywood, and the effects of television on society. "As the story started to reveal itself, I started to piece this one wildly crazy puzzle together from different angles, time zones, and consciousness... It's an exploration of the facets of oneself you can wish to look at or not." says Mangia. Producing the album himself, Michael took a new approach this time around. "In order to translate the abstraction in my heart and head, I had to play around with a different sonic palate than what I was used to. I brought in some really amazing players which added to the base of the iceberg. We used a lot more layered guitars which opened up more doors."
