Review

"Ticonderoga is a ribald blast of drunken revelry in the flamboyant form of pimped-out funk rock grooves and soulful Super Fly schmaltz. It's a musical fuzzy-dice Mardi Gras celebration." -- UNDER THE VOLCANO

"Morning 40 Federation lets its freak flag fly fantastically on Ticonderoga ... New Orleans' irreverent musical tradition will outlive Katrina just fine." -- PREFIX "Lean and low-slung ... as crudely funny as it is musically tight." -- NEW YORK TIMES "These Ninth Ward convivialists have finally made a recording that captures some of the bacchanalian madness of their live performances ... calling this feel-good music wouldn't do the band justice. It's a wonder this stuff is even legal." -- PLAYBOY

Morning 40 Federation is a ragtag team of New Orleans musicians that creates a rock `n' roll sound unlike any other. It is deeply rooted in the New Orleans style, yet the groove and soul conjure up Detroit circa 1975 while the rock feels like something out of New York in the early part of this century. Their live shows are the stuff of legend, and they cannot walk down the streets of the still-surviving New Orleans without Beatles-esque fan acknowledgement. This new album was the last to be recorded in New Orleans before Hurricane Katrina. Like the band, it is a survivor that carries with it deeper qualities than just fun music to party to ... although that is there as well (it would not be Morning 40 without it). Ticonderoga is more primal than any of their previous releases, and shakes all genres up with a refreshing punk attitude.
