Led by vocalist/guitarist Richard Setford, this fantastic ten-piece pop/soul/funk outfit on New Zealand label Sugarlicks finally unleash their long awaited debut titled Energy State. A vibrant combination of Pacific soul, Steely Dan like fusion, percussive bossa nova, and Talkin' Loud (particularly Incognito and Galliano) inspired funk, this album is as instantly likeable. One Million Dollars are hugely popular in their hometown, Aukland, and based on this superb record it is easy to see why. 11 tracks. 2003.
