Review

I'm not what you would call "hip" on your American music scene, with your "grunge" and, what is it? Your "Seattle music?" But I do know this tidbit: your Plastik Trumpet are indeed a band I care for.

Perhaps the reason me mates and I love your Plastiks so much is because of their European ties... they were bloody born in Rheinbach, Germany, the home of guitarist Robert, a talented musician (and a good friend who got me through some rough scrapes with me lady-friend Anna, but that's a tale you can only find in me book of life...) On the streets of Rome, for many the capitol of modern rock music, Robert met a striking American youth... a fellow named Garth. Soon the two were making beautiful music together, but alas, Garth had to return to the states. How-bloody-ever, in '92, which I'm sure you know as the year Ratt perished, the Trumpets were reborn in Lincoln, Nebraska, for many the capitol of modern rock. Robert soon returned to the homeland, and now the Trumpet blows on both sides of the Atlantic, producing incredible sounds to the delight of rockers worldwide!

Ah, but history, history... history is for schoolboys! I am a rocker through and through, and if you're holding this debut release, I'm sure you are too, me friend! Please, if you will, lend an ear to the opening salvo of Pap Finn - personally it reminds me of a young Thin Lizzy! Drop the needle of your phonograph on cut two, Twister, it's swirling moog and poignant cello exemplify modern music as we know it today, and for that matter, as we've always bloody known it! Perhaps the finest of all is Super Fire Hot, which I, Roquer, would have perhaps called Super Fire ROCK, because that's exactly what it did to me, and methinks it will to you too as well, music lover!

In conclusion, good friend, I'd normally be at the pub at this time - however, tonight you can find me in me flat, with me headphones on, and ARE YOU P.T.? on me hi-fi, intoxicated only by the finest in modern rock (as well as bourbon). End of Story! VIVA LE TRUMPET, and good night! (Jaques Roquer, critic, Rock Magazine, Luxembourg, 1995)
