Review

The cover art pays droll homage to John Lennon and Yoko Ono's Bed-In for Peace, but the music inside is straight Paul McCartney. From the bubbling synthesizers and insistent disco rhythms of "Tokyo Nights" to the shouty glam-rock swagger of the "Teen Titans Theme," this is exactly the kind of giddy Wings-influenced power-pop that producer Andy Sturmer once attempted to revive with his own band, Jellyfish. Never mind that the most of it is sung in Japanese. With ska beats percolating through "K2G" and 12-string Rickenbackers chiming on "Sayonara," this serves as the ideal follow-up to Puffy AmiYumi's 2002 sampler, An Illustrated History.
