Listeners may know Rick Elias as the Ragamuffin who produced and oversaw Rich Mullins's final project, The Jesus Record. But what most listeners may not be aware of is Elias's own solo work: 3 records in 10 years have established him as a unique artist in his own right. Blink puts a homespun twist on Elias's brand of heartland rock. This CD, ostensibly a polished-up reel of publishing demos recorded in Elias's basement recording studio, is an intimate, organic experience. From driving rock to heartfelt ballads, Blink is a richly layered production, without being overdone, and is carried by Elias's rich, soulful, gritty voice.
