Review

"Lunar Sessions" captures the essence of what is cool House Music. Begins with persuasive, smooth tracks like Semi's "Hetero Sapians" whereby he cleverly mixes in Echomen's "Perpetual" in acapella form. He then makes the transition to a much more funkier sound in Sam UL's "Generate". The best transition though, in this compilation, is when he mixes Speaker People's "State of Mind" (feat. JC Turek) and Space Sector's "Who Am I" (feat. Adele Holness). The shift of sounds made during this particular mix is flawless and with Ms. Holness' haunting voice in the background, it is certainly a 3 AM eternal moment!

Roland then proceeds to get a little funkier with Steve Bug's "November Girl". Now that is a track that certainly grabs on to you unsuspectingly. This Electro House hybrid is then juxtaposed with a track that sounds more like an Acid House track from the late 1980s, Sasha Vykhovski's "Unknown Element". Yet, just when you think that this compilation is heading back to old school, he then shifts gears and goes Tribal with Luke Chable's "Sealers Cove". Now, that track is awesome.

This compilation does its job as it captures the essence of what true House Music sounds like on the dance floor.
