Seamus Egan has long been one of the most exciting soloists--on flute, whistle, pipes, guitar, and banjo--in Celtic music, and he has matured into a fine composer as well. He has followed up his evocative soundtrack for The Brothers McMullen with an all-instrumental solo album, When Juniper Sleeps, which contains six original compositions so melodic and emotional they seem to call out for vocals. --Geoffrey Himes
