Acknowledged as an influence by both punk and metal bands, Sweet's Desolation Boulevard is worthy of renown for its impact alone. Criticized in their day for straddling fences, Sweet managed to adeptly merge bubblegum pop and hard rock with "A.C.D.C." and "I Want to Be Committed." "Ballroom Blitz" is a wrecking ball of a rocker with a surplus of hyperventilating urgency. Sweet's knack for melody surfaces again in the infectious "Fox on the Run."
