Review

"The Czars seem determined to create the most enrapturing, enormous sounds around. So far they are succeeding, with rapturous reviews for their two albums. Grant's voice is big on record; live, it is the size of the Rockies themselves. This man looks like the Aphex Twin with pigtails, but sounds like Morrissey dueting with Roy Orbison in a wind tunnel. As an awed hush descends, he loses himself in electro-country-bluesy songs about unrequited love and stolen childhood." - The Guardian

The Czars make their eagerly awaited return this autumn with their superb third album 'Goodbye,' the follow-up to 'The Ugly People Vs. The Beautiful People,' which was released to great critical acclaim in Fall 2001. 'Goodbye' is filled with incredible songs notable for their rich production, incredible musicianship and, of course, John Grant's beautiful baritone vocals, painting broad textures over dense sonic space. Lyrically, the album deals with themes of loss, regret and change.
