Review

Kim Robertson starts out this compilation with a pretty yet darkly moving piece for harp and voice, "The Labyrinth Waltz," which sets the mood for this release: lovely with a touch of sadness. William Coulter follows with a wistful acoustic guitar instrumental, and other standouts include the Gaelic singing of both Aoife Ni Fhearraigh and Karen Matheson, John Whelan's gentle "Alterio's Waltz," and Orison's airy "Butterfly." This is an excellent album for the quiet times, a glass of wine by the fire, or a Sunday brunch with the one you love. This collection showcases some fine musicians from small, hard-to-find labels and makes them available for all to enjoy. --Jeff Grubb
