Review

Since 1974, W.C. Spencer has been testing the limits of the blues genre with his high-flying blues act. Now a debut CD introduces this remarkable artist to world with this album of classic urban and country Blues.

W.C. has performed in concert with such artists and legends as Sonny Terry & Brownie McGhee, Roy Buchanan, Danny Gatton, Robert Palmer and Papa John Creach. With Bluescat, Spencer captures the essence of many different blues styles. Called a `musical genius or freak of nature', Spencer is a powerful guitarist who also sings and plays the harmonica, bass and drums all at the same time! This album showcases 3 originals and a unique approach to standards by Muddy Waters, Albert King and Sonny Boy Williamson. This album of `real' blues will definitely be of interest to those who enjoy country, rhythm & classic blues.

With descriptions for the album like “stunning” and “an absolute gem”, this album is sure to please the most discerning blues listener. Living Blues Magazine says Spencer “has obviously put a lot of work into his craft - he sounds uncannily like a full electric blues combo.”
