Review

New Zealand power-pop outfit Zed are on the edge of big things, so this fine second album is quite simply perfectly timed. Sounding polished & accomplished as both musicians & songwriters, Zed have come a long way musically since their successful debut 'Silencer' but have still managed to maintained their power-pop 'cherry', delivering a set of impossibly catchy guitar driven songs such as the Top 20 single 'Starlight' & current radio fav 'Hard To Find Her'. With various recording/production work done in NZ & California, plus mastering in New York, this album has a genuine 'international' sheen to it which will no doubt hold them in good stead as 'This Little Empire' takes it's stab at world (or at least) US domination. An excellent effort from a bunch of charming young men. 14 tracks. Universal. 2004.
