Review

"Pearl" hints at the traditional Appalachian music with which the artists were raised but covers varied musical territory, with nods to contemporary acoustic, pop, and folk. It features the artists themselves on guitars and clawhammer banjo, and they are helped by a host of America's best acoustic musicians, including Marcy Marxer, Ronnie and Ricky Simpkins, Chris Norman, Sally Van Meter, Ralph Gordon, and Bruce Molsky (who also produced the project).
