Review

Fable is the long-awaited solo debut of NYC alt-folk free spirit Amy Speace (Twangirl Music 2002 Release). Produced by John Abbey with an additional track produced by guitarist James Mastro (The Health & Happiness Show, The Bongos) "Fable" includes 11 songs filled with passion and soul, making it"an absolute must buy!" writes PA folk DJ Paula Beiter (WPTC) Williamsport, PA). Ranging from the opening garage rock sounds of "Restless", a toe-tapping song of lust and responsibility, to the stark beauty of the closing song "Transatlantic Conversation", a song about losing a child, where the protagonist asks "Tell me I won't shatter", Amy takes the listener on a journey of love and longing with her award-winning poetically flippant lyrics, viewing dissatisfaction as more of a traveling companion than as an unwelcome guest. Her melodies are haunting and her rhythms relentless. Billboard Magazine writes that Amy's music is "undeniably earnest and commercially accessible."
