Review

Of all Kool Keith's bizarre career moves, teaming up with pusherman Ice-T to form the Analog Brothers has to rank up there. Along with the mysterious trio of Silver Synth, Mark Moog, and Rex Roland, Keith and the Original Gangster wage war on rap's digital principality. "Analog Brother's Intro" revisits the Ultramagnetic MCs' "We Are the Horsemen" for the year 2005 with a creepy bass growl and some of Ice-T's slickest rhymes in years. The Brothers live up to their analog moniker with amazing, otherworldly production values that are equal parts synthpop, electro bass, and vintage spaced-out Keith. Lead single "2005" boasts a moody Moog groan and synthesized strings, and check the amazing "Permsbaldheadsafrosdreads" for a scary look at tomorrow's hairstyle repression. Lyrical references are both abstract and everyday, a rewarding rhyme stew of 1980s baseball players, space-pimp boasts, and futuristic paranoia. --Hua Hsu Hip Hop: Ice Oscillator (aka Ice T), Keith Korg (aka Kool Keith), Silver Synth (aka Black Silver) & Rex Roland JX39 (aka Pimp Rex) are the Analog Brothers.
