Review

Intuitive yet deftly manipulated, Crane Wars nests in the overlap between the organic and inorganic, technology and nature. The band manages to capture sound like landscape photography, seemlessly blending spontaneity with studio mastery. This blurring of boundaries is not an explicit agenda--it is a natural response to sound from players who know their craft. There are clashes and closure between samples, clarion trumpet, guitars, Piazzolla-like accordion, voice, piano and beats. Melodic explorations and textural nuances catch your breath like anything that is beautiful and inexplicable.
