One of the most important jazz pianists of all time and one of the big three pioneers of the bebop style, Bud Powell was not only a brilliant performer, but was also one of a small handful of pianists throughout jazz history who actually changed the way the piano was played in jazz. By the 1950s Powell's style was the model for pianists in nearly all modern jazz groups. This invaluable collection presents all of the prime recordings of this groundbreaking pianist, all cut before his 27th birthday and dating from the classic bebop era.
