Review
Endtyme is Cathedral's day in the sun. Completing the unfinished business of Black Sabbath circa the threateningly dense Sabotage, the band sways with charming sleaze on "Melancholy Emperor" while honoring its original doom-metal commitment. "Cathedral Flames" and "Alchemist of Sorrows" urgently push forward tight riffs played on strings that sound like they were made from bridge cables. This is unbelievably heavy music that swings. Ian Christe2001 album for cosmic doom metal legends. Produced by Billy Anderson (Brutal Truth, Sleep) it captures the essence of their ever-evolving sound...from the dark dirges of 'Forest of Equilibrium' through the groove-laden fantasy rock of their later albums. Now available at a lower price on Earache Records.
