Review
"Mystory," an evolutionary blend of neo-soul, classic melodies and pop accessibility, deftly shines light on the shady corners of relationships. The laidback effervescence of "Changes" houses a monologue to a cheating man's girlfriend, where Crea admits that she was, albeit unwittingly, the other woman. Similarly, the album's first single, "U Lied" confronts an untrustworthy and unappreciative lover. But Mystory never comes off as garden-variety man-bashing. There's a depth, vulnerability and honesty in Crea's music that puts the listener in her shoes. "Mystory" turns the open book voyeurism of contemporary R&B into an out-of-body experience . Through the power of her words, melodies and voice, Crea's story becomes all of our stories.
