Review

Never trust appearances ! Behind the relatively common name Daniel DENIS, we can find one of the strongest personalities that new musics ever created. The drummer-composer was first heard of when he founded ARKHAM with keyboardist Jean-Luc MANDERLIER, an excellent band often considered the Belgian answer to SOFT MACHINE. His excellent technique raised Christian VANDER's interest, who hired him in MAGMA in 1972. Unfortunately, the experience only lasted a few concerts. The following year, he created NECRONOMICON with Roger TRIGAUX and Guy SEGERS, a name that after became UNIVERS ZERO. What followed is now quite famous in the Great History of Music... After the (Temporary) split-up of this band, Daniel DENIS worked for a while under his own name. However, he kept this peculiar taste for Eastern musics, modern composers (STRAVINSKY or BARTOK) and dark atmospheres. "Sirius And The Ghosts" (1991) gives him more independence to go and discover new sounds. Very strong!! Exactly like its predecessor "Les Eaux Troubles" (1993), crowns the return of the UNIVERS ZERO members for a new artistic success. Not to be missed !
