Review

At times sounding like a more rural Son Volt, the album is a slow, earthy all-natural rocker that backpacks the country trails in search of lakeside serenity. McCann recorded it with his band The Ten Toed Frogs as well as a host of other Calgary musicians who brought to the record instruments such as the Jew's harp, banjos, fiddle, washboard, pedal steel and various other hillbilly hallmarks.

McCann taps into his love of the wilderness and his connection with friends to create his brand of folk rock or country rock, or whatever you want to call it. His newest CD, Woodland Tea, is a quirky combination of country and folk with some connections to rock and punk.
