Review
History has always been the inspiration for some of America's most stirring music. Singer-songwriter, David Walburn, of Whitefish, Montana has captured in song the raw emotions and drama of an adventure that consumed two years and 8,000 miles, each day filled with exhilarating discovery, aching loneliness and remarkable heroism. With eleven original songs on West For America, David has hauntingly relived the Lewis & Clark Expedition of 1804, an epic journey of exploration stretching from St. Louis to the Pacific Ocean. History has never sounded so good or felt so familiar; discovery of the Great Falls, enduring the Bitterroot Mountains, passage through The Dalles, the extraordinary personal hardships and struggles of Sacagawea and York. It is the human element, however--the longing for home, courage in the face of pending disaster, love remembered--that permeates this passionate musical creation and makes it remarkable.
