Review
Dennis Alcapone was an extremely popular DJ/toaster in the Jamaica of the early '70s, generally considered second only to U. Roy, the undisputed champion of the time. Universal Rockers is a 1992 release of tracks cut sometime in the late '70s, and it's not an outstanding release: both Alcapone's delivery and the mixing are restrained. It's not what made him famous, check Forever Version on Studio One for that. Neither does it have the bite of most late-'70s DJ cuts, try If Deejay Was Your Trade on Blood & Fire for that. --Jonathan E.
