Review

From Fathers to Sons is a tribute to our musical parents. As we grow older we realize how much we owe to our musical fathers and mothers and how grateful we are for the music they have made and passed on to us. It's grounding and comforting to recognize and acknowledge that we're a product of those who came before, part of a long chain of culture. We're awed by the rich traditions they coached us in and from which we borrowed heavily. As time goes by we see how important these people and their music have been to us; how they shaped our music and world views; and how happy they've made us with their art. This CD collects some of our favorite music from our favorite musicians and influences. We thank them for all the great times we've had singing and playing their music. Folk, old-time, country, bluegrass, flatpicking and fingerpicking, singing and playing, are all here in abundance. The songs of friends and family are mixed with those of more famous classic performers: The Monroe Brothers, Hank Williams, The Carter Family, Flatt & Scruggs, and so many others. We spiced it all with a fair measure of hot guitar playing and our own original compositions.
