Review

The incessant flower-power idealism may be hard to take, especially from a duo calling themselves Sunshine and Moonbeam, but on their second album San Francisco's Dubtribe Sound System put an imaginative and infectious spin on the contemporary club soundtrack. Opening with the sound of disco strings, Latin rhythms, and deep, magnificently detailed electronic grooves, the duo mines a wealth of dance-floor styles for a seamless reaffirmation of the spirit and the mind. It's only when things get too preachy--as on the inimical "Holler!"--that the group sacrifices its positive vibrations. --Aidin Vaziri
