Review

Ever Brightening Day is a warm, inviting album that ranges in style from bluegrass to swing to blues to folk and back. Centred around Eve's remarkable voice and solid guitar playing, the album features a capella numbers, songs with small string-band backing, and songs with full band accompaniment.

In addition to her original songs ("Cold Wind Blowing," "Let's Throw a Party for Ourselves," "Watermelon Sorbet," and "Waiting for a Train,") Eve has selected songs by some of her favourite songwriters, including Bessie Smith, Kate Wolf, Cathy Fink, Mississippi John Hurt, John McCutcheon, Jean Ritchie, and Shelley Posen.

Eve is joined by a stellar cast of musicians, including Ken Whiteley, Chris Whiteley, Mose Scarlett, Cindy Church, Randy Kempf, Bill Garrett, Rick Whitelaw, Al Cross, Dennis Pendrith, and more.
