Review

On "Plastic Wonderland," Gina Nemo's Songs range from the delicate piano-vocal solo "I'm Looking Through You" to lonely melancholic works like "Around You," "I'm Breaking Down," and the darker "Smell The Roses." Lyrics delve into the painful realization of denial that most early romantic relationships are built around. Nemo's ability to articulate and express in music an agonizing time of tumult and emotional keenness accurately and beautifully portrays darkness before the dawn. "Plastic Wonderland's" opening track, "Dreamer," captures the feeling of elation Nemo has from having watched many of her dreams come true. "Don't Take Your Love From Me" is a jazz-blues tribute to her Dad, jazz composer Henry Nemo who worked with greats like Frank Sinatra, Duke Ellington, Count Basie, Ella Fitzgerald and Benny Goodman in the 1940's and '50's. "Don't Take Your Love From Me" is her Dad's biggest hit. Gina's present day take on the song has been featured in indie films "Between The Sheets" and "Party At Sam's."An array of top players like Karen Briggs (Soul to Soul, Yanni) are found on the record.
