Fairly standard but exceedingly well executed country blues, from an artist who came by his skill the old-fashioned way: over the course of his long life, Guitar Gabriel has epitomized the guitar-slinging wanderer. A onetime acquaintance of the legendary Blind Boy Fuller, Guitar Gabe (born Robert Lewis Jones) has an easygoing style, pulling off those riffs that are standard in the genre but sound so good when they're done right--as they are here. --Genevieve WilliamsGuitar Gabriel boogies and cries heartfelt country blues on 'Deep in the South' his first record in three decades!

Gabriel traveled with carnivals and medicine shows when younger, performing with an appealingly wizened voice and easygoing six-string style.
