Review

Showcasing the dancier side of their jackhammer-style industrial assault, Los Angeles's Kevorkian Death Cycle offer up their third album, A + 0 (m). This time out, the guitars are barely present, overshadowed by a persistent, ass-kicking four-on-the-floor beat and an undeniably sleazy feel that's close in spirit to such '80s industrial bands as Revolting Cocks and Thrill Kill Kult. It's a relaxed, loose album that belies the band's harsh image--there's even a smirky cover of Frankie Goes to Hollywood's "Relax." They hit a sour note on the absurdly earnest ballad "Escape Part I," but that's a petty complaint in the face of such a fresh-sounding album. If this disc doesn't get your pulse moving, you may need to schedule a visit with Dr. Kevorkian. --Steve Landau
