Review

Essencia is Lisa's eleventh album and was co-produced by Toninho Horta. Highlights on this outstanding recording include a wonderful version of Tom Jobim's 'Red Blouse' and Luis Bonfa's 'Non-Stop to Brazil'. 'Waiting for Angela' features a duet with Toninho Horta. Also included are lovely arrangements of Charlie Chaplain's 'Smile' and Milton's 'Travessia'. Also includes two versions of her song 'Essencia', one Portuguese and one Japanese, both wonderful. EMI. 2005.2005 Album from a Lady who is Japan's Leading Purveyor of Bossa Nova. Ms. Ono was Born in Brazil and Lived There Til She was 10 Years Old. Her Father was Baden Powell's Manager During that Time and Young Lisa Carried the Culture of her Early Upbringing Back to Japan When her Family Relocated Back above the Equator. Her Father Owned a Nightclub that Hosted Brazilian and Latin American Artists and Lisa Continued to Learn her Craft from Them. Over 12 Albums Later, She is Truly One of the Brightest Jewels of the International Bossa Scene, Both in Brazil and Japan.
