Review

A guitar and the songs of Judy Collins and Joni Mitchell were the accompaniments for Madeline MacNeil's early days of performing more than twenty-five years ago. Time has gone by, and for many years hammered and mountain dulcimers have been her focus instruments along with her voice. The songs have changed a bit now, as the listener enjoys standards such as Autumn Leaves, My Shining Hour, and Here's That Rainy Day. But the roots remain. Judy Collins is represented in her haunting song My Father and Joni Mitchell's beautiful Urge For Going are also part of this CD's offering.

Fine musicians join Madeline who sings and plays hammered dulcimer on As Time Goes By. Also performing are Ralph Gordon(string bass and cello), Seth Austen (guitar), Guy George (soprano saxophone), Steve Schneider (piano, accordion), Janita Baker (bass dulcimer), and Rob Brereton (fretted dulcimer).
